OUTDOOR FURNITURE ASSEMBLY
Natasha Dickins
I found this outdoor Narvik setting by Hartman Furniture at Bunnings and love how it combines elegant midcentury form with modern UV-resistant fabric and resilient timber that can withstand the weather.
TIP It’s now out of stock, but looks like it’s due back in stores soon.
It’s great to have newly purchased furniture flat-packed in a box so it fits in the car, but not so great that it needs assembling when you get it home.
But this system is pretty simple and doesn’t require any tools other than the supplied hex key.
To assemble the two-seater sofa, use the 45mm screws to attach the base and back to one side first. Position the front rail without installing screws, then secure the other side piece.
Flip the assembly upside down to add the screws to the front rail, putting the barrel nuts into the holes and using the single 50mm screw to hold them while installing the 60mm screws from the side.
Install the two 40mm screws through the base and into the back.
TIP Position the cushions with the joining flap facing outwards, towards the back.
To assemble the chair, set out the cardboard packaging as a work surface to avoid scratching the floor or the furniture.
I found starting with the first side facing upwards was the simplest way to assemble the chair.
Keep the screws loose to fit the front rail, then tighten each one before adding the cushions.
To assemble the coffee table, position the top upside down.
Push the washers onto the screws before fitting the legs, tightening the screws with the hex key.
